If you have decided to travel to Majorca and have rented a villa in Pollensa: Congratulations! If not, then we will explain why Pollensa is a bound destination if you have decided to spend your holidays here.
Pollensa is a small town located in the northern part of Majorca, in the Sierra de Tramontana region which ─ don’t forget─ has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO. If this is not enough, it also has its own maritime area where you can sunbathe or practice sports such as sailing or windsurfing. Pollensa offers us both mountain and sea, both of an unspoken beauty. Everything mentioned above makes Pollensa an ideal place to rent your holiday villa in Majorca.
If you are in Pollensa and like to eat healthy or try local foods, the Pollensa market is a place you should not miss. It is held in the town square and you will be able to choose between a wide variety of local vegetables and fruits, all fresh. If you have rented a villa in Pollensa, instead of staying in a hotel, you can take advantage to eat healthy and to enjoy all the gastronomic possibilities it offers.
In addition to food, in the streets around the market, there are many stands with different typical products of the island's handicrafts: an ideal gift to bring upon your return.
If you want to take a dip into the history of the area, you can visit architectural monuments like the convent of Santo Domingo or the Church of the 'Mare de Déu dels Àngels'. The first is a convent built by the Dominicans between the 16th and 17th centuries and whose most important altarpiece is dedicated to the Virgen del Rosario. As for the Church of the 'Mare de Déu dels Àngels', although the original was erected in 1236, the one you can visit today was reformed during the 18th century, which explains its Baroque style.
In addition to all the aforementioned, you can take advantage of hiking as there are multiple routes through the Sierra de Tramontana; or cycling, Majorca is considered a paradise for cyclists. You can also practice other sports ─in the water or land─ like for example, golf.
As you see, Pollensa has almost everything. You are the only one missing!
